WNW x London

Working Not Working July 1, 2015

WNW x London

London has become our 4th largest market so we figured it was time to hop on a flight and give London some full-on WNW love. The days were full of meetings with various companies (with a big thank you to Techspace for being our interim office), and nights were spent toasting our members, both old and new.

We started off the week with a bang, hosting our Drinking Not Drinking in partnership with architectural wonder and hub for creative entrepreneurs, Second Home. The festivities coincided with co-founder Justin Gignac's birthday; his cake naturally read "Aging Not Aging."

To balance the drinking with a bit of education, WNW Member #3322 Tom Lane led a workshop on the basics of typography. Courtesy of General Assembly's pop-up shop, fifty lucky guests learned the art of lettering at the Old Street Underground Station, making it an experience unlike any other. A big thank you to MJ Group for handling our coasters and signage.

On Thursday, June 18th, after a day of rest, we rallied everyone at Dream Bags Jaguars Shoes to show us their moves at Dancing Not Dancing. DJ collective Customs (which includes Members Guy Bingley and Nick Bastian) helped make the night one to remember. Or rather, one we tried to remember.

Less debauched but no less entertaining was the end-of-week cocktail party and exhibition at tokyobike in honor of WNW Member #3061 Jay Wright, whose illustrations lined the walls. It's Nice That had commissioned Jay's illustrations for an article on Working Not Working members and the realities of freelancing. Our friends at Hato Press, led by WNW Member Ken Kirton, graciously provided prints for all the attendees to take home. An additional thank you to Printer of Dreams for bringing Jay's work beautifully from digital to print.

Through a series of photos below by Tamsin Isaacs, we celebrate our trip. Check out the complete album on Facebook.

We love you, London. You're so much more than a summer fling.
