The 2nd Annual LA Holiday Party: Recap
WORKING NOT WORKING
We've thrown epic holiday parties the last six years. New York’s party happened last night and the entire NY team is non-responsive so we assume it went really well? We’ll give you an NY recap when they wake up in a few (hours? days?). But for now, here’s a recap of what went down in Los Angeles on a Wednesday night.
We partnered with our friends at Goin’ Up for the second year in a row, with the event hosted at the spectacular and spacious Playa Studios in Culver City, courtesy of Mophonics Music & Sound. We could not have pulled it off without the Mophonics team, pulling out all the stops from entertainment to music and more. And what better way to ignore a lot of the divisiveness and uncertainty that defined 2017 than more than 700 people coming together and throwing their cares to the side, dancing and indulging in good times like it was still 2016.
The music blasted and lasted all night, with DJ sets by Classixx and Luxxury, DJ Pänch (a founder of Goin’ Up), Mary Droppinz, and Caszhwill. Award-winning electric violinist Peter Lee Johnson was a hit as he accompanied the DJs on multiple sets. It’s not a party without an open bar and we brought the best off the shelf. Guests enjoyed White Claw Hard Seltzer and craft cocktails including “None of This is Real” Ghost Tequila Margaritas, “Just Keep Smiling” Ghost Tequila Palomas, “The Grass Is Greener Where the Rum Is” Mount Gay Rum Punches, and “Choose Your Own Adventure” Cocktails featuring Misadventure Vodka and Pomp and Whimsy Gin Liqueur. But we couldn’t keep the classy cocktail act going for too long. Once dozens of Shakey’s pizzas showed up to balance the booze, there was more or less a riotous stampede.
Amongst the hanging sparkly ornament display, the Om Digital photo booth provided evidence of an incredibly good time. Make sure to check out the Facebook album filled with photos from photographer Eugene Lee and some epic Holiday party footage from videographer team Colorways.
If that wasn’t enough, WNW Members were treated to some awesome art pieces this year. Thanks to Natalie Sun at Next Art, Eric Parren’s undulating art piece provided stunning visuals all night. Justin Mitchell & crew also installed an incredible 15’ LED X-mas tree, to keep the holiday spirit alive and glowing. And that's not to mention "the hula hoop girl."
A huge shout out to our WNW members in LA, and most of all to the people who helped make this party happen. The second annual party was a smash. And thanks again to all the sponsors who made it happen. Stay tuned for news from New York coming in hot. WNW is closing out a big year, which kicked off with the launch of WNW 2.0 and was bookended by the relaunch of this redesigned Working Not Working Magazine you’re currently on. Thanks to all of you who made this year happen. We’re looking forward to 2018, and we’ve got some BIG things in the works. Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram and all the other socials (@wnotw) to see what we’re up to in the coming year. As always, check out Workingnotworking.com, especially if you managed to walk away from the party drunk and still thinking we’re a WeWork offshoot. They’re great and all, but c’mon people!
