Working Not Working’s 11 Highlights from This Year’s Us By Night Festival
WORKING NOT WORKING
It’s hard to even know where to begin in sharing our experience at Us By Night, the one-of-a-kind design festival that transpired over 3 late November nights in the wonderful city of Antwerp. It was great to be a partner, and to experience an environment built to bring together and inspire creatives traveling from all over the world. One thing we aim to do at WNW is bring like-minded creative folks together in one place and inspire them, so it’s great to see Rizon’s initiative which has added a new level to what design conferences can be. The nights were jam-packed with talks, experiences, great food and drinks, and even better international company. We reconnected with plenty of OG Members, met many new members for the first time, and were introduced to future members.
Below, we’re sharing some of WNW’s personal highlights from this year’s Us By Night.

Builder Club’s Title Sequence for the Event
“We’ve been inspired by Kung Fu and created a film that pays tribute to outstanding individuals fighting for creativity.”
The Night Market
What a selection of food, drinks, arcade games, and experiences at the night market, built to tickle all your senses and themed on a misty Bangkok environment. Special shout out to the Falafel guys!
Brabo's Hand Tattoo
The Antwerpen tattoo shop was there to make your UBN memories forever. That’s how good this event was.
CoCreation Lab
Designing your own graphic Adidas t-shirt with the Makerlab HQ team.
The Work of Wunderkind David Uzochukwu
David Uzochukwu must have been an artist since birth. He’s a 19-year-old photographer with a style and poise seen more in the work of someone with a 19-year professional career. To be perfectly honest, he blew our mind.
WNW Member Eric Hu’s Talk
There was standing room only at WNW Member Eric Hu’s talk on the first night. He talked on his work as Design Director at Nike, and shared his collaboration with Photographer and fellow speaker Justinas Vilutis.
WNW Member Emily Forgot’s Talk
London-based Emily Forgot sharing the diversity of her astounding work which blends humor and beauty in ever-exciting ways. Always embracing the odd, the everyday, and sometimes surreal, which really came through in her talk.
WNW Members Leta Sobierajski and Wade Jeffree's Talk
WNW Members Leta Sobierajski and Wade Jeffree's took to the Adobe stage to give a tutorial on their creative process as a couple. They are OG Members who have been inspiring us since Day 1.
WNW Member Shantell Martin’s Talk
WNW Member Shantell Martin inspired and motivated us with the collage presentation taking us on a journey through her career so far. “Who are you? You are you.”
Kelly Anna’s Live Mural
Across the three days, Kelly Anna took on the challenge to paint a mural live in the Night Market. Talk about capturing the essence of collaboration: Kelly Anna brought fellow WNW Member Kate Moross on to assist her in completing the mural for the final leg on Day 3. It was awesome to witness.
Erik Kessels’ Talk
Erik Kessels brought the laughs as always and joined in ending the event on a high note. He discussed FAILED IT, his book about how making mistakes will lead you to successes and original work.
