ACROSS THE DOTTED LINE, A GRAPHIC INSTALLATION BY
JOEL DERKSEN
Inspired by motifs, intensity, and the grit of East London, WNW Member Joel Derksen assembled a massive graphic installation over a hurried weekend earlier this month in DigitasLBI's unique space in the Old Truman Brewery. Standing at 3 meters high, and 22 meters long, the exhibit, titled "Across the Dotted Line," follows a pair of scissors as it falls from order and control into a dizzying collage of pattern and colour that jumps from floor to pillar to wall. Over time, these scissors begin to play across the space, renegotiating boundaries: an experience every creative is familiar with. "Across the Dotted Line" has been specifically created to fit and play within the DigitasLBi space as part of the monthly exhibition series curated by Elisa de Martini.
On the 25th of November, Joel and company are planning to tear the exhibit down and give away parts in the spirit of the exhibit. Before then, you can visit the space at 146 Brick Lane by making an appointment with Elisa de Martini.
